The 7th edition of the Near Miss Party took place in Trieste on the 5th and the 6th June 2013.

For those not acquainted with the term a “near miss incident” on job sites is defined as an unplanned  event that did not result in injury, illness, or damage - but had the potential to do so. It is well and widely demonstrated that the knowledge gained from this useful tool leads to many benefits as reduction of risks, identifying corrective actions and improvement of the safety performance.

The TAL Group introduced the Near Miss Reporting System in 2000 in order to improve safety behaviour and working environment as well as to enhance prevention of potential incidents caused by unsafe conditions at workplace, unsafe behaviour or malfunctioning equipment. The aim was also to encourage involvement of the workforce (staff as well as external contractors) and make them aware of the importance of health and safety issues.

The TAL staff members who submit at least one near miss report get invited to participate at the event organized in turn by one the three TAL companies about every 1,5 -2 years  to highlight TAL’s high appreciation for their active participation.

More then 60 people, including TAL contractors, coming from Austria, Germany and Italy attended this year’s event which was also the occasion to share the common safety related experiences and to visit Wärtsilä factory, one of the biggest and most important industrial plants in the Province of Trieste.
