SIOT once again supports a.b.c. and burlo garofolo hospital for children and their families
else: ?>SIOT, once again supports the activities of “A.B.C. Associazione per i Bambini Chirurgici del Burlo” (Association supporting paediatric surgery patients at the Burlo Hospital).
After last year’s donation of three armchair beds for the Surgery Department, SIOT in 2022 is helping to make available welcome kits with basic necessities for the families of children admitted to the IRCCS Maternal and Child Hospital Burlo Garofolo. These families are hosted in the five houses where the A.B.C. Association welcomes families arriving from outside the city, free of charge, to face with their children complex surgical operations at the Burlo.
The kits contain some personal care and hygiene products, bus tickets, discounts for meals delivered at home, slippers and magazines for the children: a gift to make them feel immediately at home in the flats and be comforted in the ward. SIOT will also support the running costs of hospitality, for one year, in the new Casa A.B.C. in via San Lazzaro in Trieste, made available on a free loan basis by the Evangelical Lutheran Community of Trieste.
“Being at the side of the families of surgical children in the small gestures of everyday life, even in their journey outside the hospital, is important to make them feel welcome and give them serenity” – said Giusy Battain, Director of A.B.C. “We are grateful to SIOT, who sensitively helps us to take care of them. This initiative marks the continuation of a partnership that began last year with the donation of the three bed chairs to the surgery ward. Being able to count on lasting support from donors is fundamental for A.B.C. to guarantee stability and constant growth of its projects. SIOT’s support is even more important as it comes at a particularly critical and delicate time: we are also preparing to welcome families arriving from Ukraine and any support that allows us to strengthen our reception activities takes on an even more significant value today, if possible”.
“Supporting those who do good is an opportunity to be seized – commented Alessio Lilli, President of SIOT and General Manager of TAL OIL – for the second year we support the A.B.C. Association and for the whole of SIOT, from the shareholders to the management and all the employees, it represents one of the most significant partnerships. When we talk about the Burlo Garofolo we are talking about children and families who face enormous challenges and about the healthcare staff who accompany them with exemplary professionalism and humanity. And the work that an association such as A.B.C. carries out, alongside and together with the hospital, completes and enhances a service that becomes even more significant for families. SIOT wants to be close to them, contributing in a small way to making these challenges more bearable”.
