After several months of revision, the “Deutsche Transalpine Oelleitung GmbH” (TAL) is putting crude oil tank number two back into operation. At the same time, another from a total of seven tanks at the Lenting site will be decommissioned and overhauled.

Cooperation with the University of Magdeburg

During the entire filling and emptying process, the TAL and the University of Magdeburg carried out gas concentration measurements below and above the tank roof for the first time. The analyzes will be taken into account for future projects.

99.8 percent less evaporation after revision

During the tank inspection, the tank was technically tested in cooperation with experts and geologists and got prepared for the following years. Retrofitting with a tertiary seal ensures that 99.8% less vapor escapes from the crude oil tank.
