Kienburg and Gruben
Pumping Stations
Along its route across the Alps, the pipeline passes through the High Tauern mountain range reaching its maximum altitude of almost 1.572 m.
The two pumping stations of Kienburg and Gruden, located on the southern side of the Austrian Alps, in Matrei (East Tyrol), ensure the necessary pressure and flow rate of the oil. These remotely monitored, cutting-edge stations with centrifugal pumps provide the right pressure to the oil flow so that it can overcome the highest point along the route and then continue its journey on the northern side of the Tauern towards Ingolstadt and the refineries.
