Ocean launches the tug ‘Glera’, it will be used at the Marine Terminal
else: ?>The new tug of Ocean Srl, built in the shipyard Cartubi in Trieste, has just been launched and is called Glera. It will be used for the anti-pollution service at the Marine Terminal.
The construction of this “oil recovery tug” is part of the contract for prevention and monitoring of the stretch of water that SIOT-TAL has with Ocean srl.
It is a multi-functional unit, fitted with the most modern equipment and technology and designed for the recovery of liquid and solid pollutants, deployment of containment barriers, towing, fire-fighting and logistical support to ships and offshore platforms, capable of operating even at low speed to optimise the recovery operations of any hydrocarbon spills.
“With the choice of the name of a local vine,” explains SIOT-TAL President and General Manager Alessio Lilli, “the shipowner wanted to highlight the close relationship with the territory and the importance of generating spin off in the region, two objectives that SIOT and Ocean have in common. Our companies boast a decade-long collaboration which, besides guaranteeing environmental protection, contributes to strengthening the economy of the sea and port development, and for this I also want to thank Ocean’s Managing Director, Michela Cattaruzza. We are proud to be able to work with the companies in the area, making use of their specific skills and know-how, creating strategic partnerships at the service of our business, for a prosperous and safe future for the port of Trieste and the companies of the entire Region”.
The launch ceremony was also attended by the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga: “Ocean Team is part of the system that makes Trieste one of the sea economy capitals in Italy and Europe. It is a sector that represents an enormous added value for Friuli Venezia Giulia in terms of both employment opportunities and development: the data show an extraordinary growth for our region, and a significant part of it is driven precisely by the economy of the sea thanks to our ports and the companies operating in them”.
The governor then remarked that “the economy of the sea is fundamental for Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Italian system, which has great potential and can now seize great opportunities for growth in this sector”.
