6,000 EUROS DONATED TO THE BURLO GAROFOLO HOSPITAL

Today a donation ceremony was held at the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo hospital and involved SIOT’s (TAL Group Italian company) Christmas donation to Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia children and maternity hospital.

Six thousand euros have been collected by the company and its employees. General Manager of TAL Group, Alessio Lilli handed over the cheque: “For Christmas we decided to organize a lottery within the SIOT. The company promised to double the amount spent by the employees to buy the lottery tickets, the proceeds of which would be donated to the Burlo hospital. All tickets sold out very fast!”. The initiative follows another solidarity activity that consisted in buying Melegatti panettoni for all the employees in order to stimulate sales and help the company from Verona that was ungergoing a crisis phase.

“For our company helping the Burlo means enhancing excellence and providing value to the territory we work in”, said Alessio Lilli.

The donation will enable the hospital to buy the medical equipment necessary for paediatric ophthalmology, in particular for the examination of the sight in very young children and babies.
“We wish to thank – said General Director of the Irccs Burlo Garofolo, Gianluigi Scannapieco – TAL Group for the donation and for having involved employees in a very special donation formula which highlights once again the love of Trieste community and the territory for our Burlo hospital”.

AUSTRIAN AND GERMAN DELEGATION VISITS TRIESTE

From Austria and Germany to learn more about SIOT on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Port of Trieste: a delegation of stakeholders and media representatives came to Italy on 19 and 20 September to visit the strategic infrastructures that provide energy to the heart of Europe.

Welcomed by SIOT President and TAL Group General Manager, Alessio Lilli, and by Michael Cech, Managing Director OMV Supply & Trading Italia and President of the Coordination Committee TAL, the guests were able to visit the Tank Farm in San Dorligo della Valle and the Marine Terminal where, just about a month ago, the oil tanker Rava berthed; it is vessel number 20,000 in the history of SIOT and TAL.

To celebrate this important goal, artist Jan Sedmak created a special poster that was given to all the guests and authorities participating in the event.

The mayors of the three municipalities playing host to the TAL Group infrastructure were present in Trieste: Andreas Köll, Mayor of Matrei (AUT), Günter Resch, Mayor of Jochberg (AUT) and Christian Tauer, Mayor of Lenting (GER).

The visit by the delegation was the occasion to open the doors to the Italian press, that for the first time was able to see the Control Room and to discover all the details of the complex operating procedures and to speak with the members of the team that ensure uninterrupted efficiency of the pipeline 24h a day for 365 days a year.

“It has been a great opportunity to establish important relations with the regions hosting our pipeline – explained Alessio Lilli – to learn more about the place where energy starts its journey towards the heart of Europe. For this reason we are proud to be a “bridge” between Italy, Austria and Germany. We have organized the event in these days to play our part in the 300th anniversary celebrations of the Port of Trieste, a gateway that has contributed to give shape and substance to Europe for over three centuries”.

“RAVA” OIL TANKER NUMBER 20,000 BERTHS AT THE MARINE TERMINAL

Historic result reached in the year when SIOT-TAL has unloaded over a billion and a half tonnes of crude oil in the Port of Trieste and transported them to the refineries in Germany, Austria and Czech Republic.

Number one was “Daphnella”, the first oil tanker to berth at the SIOT Marine Terminal on 13 April 1967. 52 years later the name that is entered in the history of the company is “Rava”, on 9 August 2019 it is the oil tanker number 20.000 that has unloaded its crude oil inside the infrastructure that connects the Port of Trieste with the refineries in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.

“We are happy to celebrate the arrival of the 20 thousandth ship at our Marine Terminal – said president of SIOT-TAL Alessio Lilli – a historic step for our company but also for the economy of Trieste, Friuli Venezia Giulia region and Central Europe. 20thousand oil tankers with their cargo transported safely over these 52 years have made Trieste the leading port in Italy; produce an economic impact of millions of euros every year that creates new jobs; increase knowledge and skills that enhance the economic fabric of the territories crossed by our pipeline. What happened today is not a goal but a milestone, a starting point for the future, for the next 20thousand ships that we will welcome with maximum safety to the benefit of our economy and our region”.

It is an important year for SIOT, besides rounding the mark of the 20thousand tankers berthed, in 2019 one billion and a half tonnes have been unloaded. Indicators of a strategic sector with a positive economic impact on both local and international economies. The added value produced by SIOT activity will be analysed and assessed in a study on SIOT’s economic impact on the territory to be presented in the following months.

The “Rava” is a cutting-edge “crude oil tanker” flying the Croatian flag, ship-owner is Tankerska Plovidba, launched in 2017. It is 250 metres long and 44 large and has a crew of 25 people, lead by Captain Oliver Vitlov.

Rava joins Daphnella, that inaugurated operations back in 1967, and Framura, that on 9 October 1996 was the ten thousandth tanker to berth at the Marine Terminal, evidence of a long success story that is expected to continue and create an increasingly stronger connection between Trieste and the heart of Europe.

TAL PRESENTS TRIESTE’S BARCOLANA

A sponsor team, lead by TAL Group, presented the 51st edition of Trieste’s Barcolana to the Bavarian press in Munich. It is the largest regatta in the world and TAL is one of its historical sponsors.

Trieste’s great event was presented by TAL together with other Italian cultural and economic ambassadors such as Generali, Prosecco DOC, illycaffè, PromoTurismoFVG, North and Musement.

“The Barcolana is a symbol of Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia – declared Alessio Lilli, president of SIOT and General Manager of TAL Group – and TAL is pleased to confirm its bridging role between Italy, Austria and Germany, and support the event’s presentation in countries beyond the Alps where it operates, promoting not only the sporting event but also Trieste and its excellences. Barcolana and TAL Group have a lot in common, starting from environmental and safety awareness as well as the desire to create value to the benefit of its territory.
Environment and safety issues are a priority in our industrial context, but they must be so always and everywhere, also in such a sporting, cultural and tourist event as the Barcolana that involves hundreds of thousands of people”.

During the presentation, Barcolana with the help of TAL Group, has been able to sign an agreement with Adac, the German vehicle drivers association, very active in the tourist and nautical sectors: the agreement will encourage people to come to Trieste and FVG during the Barcolana thanks to discounts and special tourist products dedicated to Germany. This collaboration lies within the incoming activity that Barcolana is carrying out at international level in partnership with Musement and through its tourist package offer available on the website www.Barcolana.it.
