SCHOOLS DAY AT THE TANK FARM IN LENTING/GERMANY
else: ?>About 100 students from Lenting and Kösching had the chance to learn about the transalpine pipeline and Lentig tank farm and understand their importance.
On the occasion of the Schools Day on 9th November, TAL invited the students of the German region of Ingolstadt to visit their Tank Farm where 18.7 million tonnes of crude oil are stored in one year.
The students from Kösching high schools and Lenting elementary and middle schools were able to discover how TAL pipeline works, focusing on safety measures and job opportunities in a company that carries 42.4 million tonnes of crude oil every year along 450 km that connect the port of Trieste to eight refineries in Germany, Austria and Czech Republic .
«Our aim is to raise awareness among the young generations on the fundamental role of crude oil and the pipeline, also for the region, and explain to them the work done to manage the Tank farm in a safe way» explained Annett Bartscher-Hartmann, Technical Director of TAL in Germany.
After a general presentation of the transalpine pipeline containing the most important information, the students visited the tank farm control room and were able to see how maintenance is carried out. One of the most successful parts of the programme was a test with a mobile water pump and since you cannot look inside the pipeline, TAL experts explained to the students how inspections inside the pipeline are carried out.
